Albuquerque - Bernalillo County Commissioner Michael Brasher filed the petition signatures required to get on the ballot for the Albuquerque City Council election.

Brasher’s assistant Robert Doucette said on Tuesday that just because he has filed the petition signatures does not mean he is an “announced candidate.”

Candidates had to submit the petitions by Monday to be on the October ballot.

If Brasher becomes an official candidate he will run in District 9 which includes Four Hills and southeast Albuquerque.

Albuquerque City Councilor Don Harris and Democrat David Barbour are slated to run against Brasher in that district.
